Am I Doing the Right Thing !!!

Here's the problem......

I am restricted...right...... but I am feeling like I can't eat the right things. I made my husband a beautiful salad the night before last. I am talking cos lettuce, rocket, baby spinach, cherry tomatoes, capsicum, carrot, spring onions, snow peas, cashews, feta, the works, and MAN my mouth was watering.... I LOVE SALAD, summer, winter, rain snow...I love it and could eat it everyday, but every time I have tried in the last 2 weeks I have had a problem with it. Lettuce is just a no-go and carrot..well don't even think about it. I can't eat meat except for really moist BBQ chicken (and then only sometimes) I can't even eat a sausage.

This has been okay for the first week or so since becoming really restricted, but now I am finding the food choices limited and boring. I am craving real food, healthy food, substantial food. I am not hungry in the least, I just want something decent.

Saturday morning I decided to have a piece of toast, just one, and it took me friggin 20 min to eat the sucker, and just as I swallowed the last teeny weeny bite I got that pain. I was in agony and had to throw up, but because the toast was dry the bastard of a thing hurt more coming up than it did going down. After 15 min of moaning and groaning in the bathroom I went off to soccer with my son Cameron and an hour later tried to have a cup of tea but even that hurt going down. Everything I tried for the rest of the day bloody hurt like crazy and came back up. I ended up sleeping for 2 hours in the middle of the day because I was so exhausted.

Am I doing the right thing?...... Should I go back and get some out?...... Should I stick it out and be more sensible?.......

The dietitian doesn't want me on a diet ..... she wants me to eat well and less quantity. But with even half a ml less I am hungry.....

What should I do people.....and be nice please.

ciao !!

Tarn,

Maybe you should have some fill out. But ask that they just take out 0.1 or 0.2 mls. Seeing as you seem so close to your sweet spot, you might find that just the tiniest bit out is enough to allow you to eat a wider range of foods....but also not to let you get too hungry.

Jeez thats a tough one sweets. I dont know, I guess for me it would depend on if I was seeing results. If you are, maybe stick it out for a little while... think about how good you'll feel when you're thin babe, it will far outlast the joy one good meal brings.
Or am I being a twat?

Hey Gorgeous Tarn,

I read your blog entry last night and have thought and thought about your dilemma.
I agree with both Dark Princess and Kylie. Both of the suggestions seem very responsible and sensible. BUT if I were in your predicament I would seriously look at my weight loss to date and weigh it all up.
If you think that you aren't having a "good quality of life" then I would insist on having some of the fill removed.
Only YOU know your body. Only YOU know how you are feeling.

From a woman with 4ml in her 10 Ml band and not feeling restriction...can eat steak, and hoover down anything... I'm craving restriction and won't get my second fill till September 3.. to you who has it...arhhh a dilemma. it's like the grey area between right and wrong isn't it.
My advice... if your not feeling unwell...hair failing out...general feeling like cr@p, stay with it. I was told by a woman who lost 85 kg on the band...eat protein first as this help with weight loss and is more beneficial for the body. Have a cuppa tea before you eat..it may help the band. Are you taking multivitamins-supradyn or berroca??
You'll know when you've had enough and need to get some out. Like Kylie said maybe the 0.1 or 0.2 holds the key

Tarn
I think you need to celebrate the cm loss and the weightloss and put a weightloss cm loss meter up on your sight at the top so you can visually see the good stuff that is happening to you. Be loud and proud honey..kick that weight into submission

The ticker tape looks great. Pit you couldn't put a total cm lost panel there as well...fussy bitch aren't I but I think that would tell the whole story.
Hope the day was good for you ..foodwise that is. Glad to hear you persevering with it. You'll know when you've had enough. Just make good food choices... and yes that means very little chocolate. Notice I didn't say NO chocolate...Like that will happen. I now myself I try not to deny myself everything...a little is good for the soul- Fucken wrecks the waist/hip ine but the soul is good...LOL

Hi Tarn, and all others in "cyber space".....

I'm new to this, bear with me....

I just wanted to say it's fantastic to read about your adventure so far and the banding process. The more info I aquire about this gives my husband the warm - n - fuzzies. My banding op is booked for 20th August. God I am so excited about the difference it will make to my life, although I was releived to read about the night out with the girls Tarn, no night on the P I 55 makes Mel a very sad individual indeed. I can't wait.
Hope I get thru... neva done the whole" chat online" thing... looks like fun and great support tho, and apparently I will be needing that in about ooohhhh 18 days... not that I am counting.. MUCH.
Stay well party people,
Mel.

P.S. Love your sense of humour Tarn, very cool, my kind of chick!

Tarn,
Don't know if you are interested, but my surgeon has given me some web site info you may like to look at. The one I really like was www.foodtalk.com.au There is a couple of "Banders" guide books and recipie thingies.... Also, there is a "portion control" plate, for banded people. It looks very interesting and will provide more info I guess... I have ordered it so can give you heads up if you so desire. Worth a look at any rate I reckon.
Stay well,
Mel.

Hey Tarn,
Thought I'd let you know that I'm ringing the Dr on Monday to see if I can get a fill in the next week or so. My clues that I need one...apart from eating close to a small calf at meal times...hooves and all(LOL), I figure that willpower alone won't get me to my goal.
Hopefully I can get one(fill that is) in the next week or so...fingers crossed. Just thought I''d tell someone who would understand.

Hi Tarn,
I would really think bout getting a tiny amount of fill out. My Personal experience I was tight where I couldnt eat much at all, really only naughty things went down, 1st thing that happens is your body goes into starvation mode and its impossible to loose weight, and for me I got a blockage one lunchtime after eating some veg (1 piece of carrot) I was in sooo much pain 4 8 hrs and I couldnt get it upeven though I was vomiting and vomiting, I eventually ended up in emergency, had to get all the fill out, and was so dehydrated. I couldnt drink or eat properly for 2 weeks as I was swollen even with no fill. And in that time I still managed to put on a few kgs because my body stored all the food i put in my mouth. Long story short this set me back months I put on 10 kgs before I got fill put back in, because everything had to settle again. So I dont believe the more fill the better, you need to find that place where you can still eat normal food just smaller amounts. And I know that is hard I still haven't found my right restriction and its been 5 months since this episode. All I can say is respect your band, and trust your instincts, I was thinking about getting some out b4 this incident, but put it off because i was impatient and wanted the weight to go.. big mistake but one I have learnt from. Goodluck with journey!
